This noodle salad has lovely golden triangles of tempeh, which means I get to give you a recipe for the quick and easy way I cook tempeh at home. Prepared like this I use it in nori rolls and tempeh burgers or to eat with a bowl of grain. I don’t usually add mirin but here, it seems to complement the Asian flavors and gives the tempeh a nice gloss. (more…)

spelt almond waffle with berries and yogurt

This delicious waffle recipe is my mother’s and she makes a batch every time I visit her in Australia. We usually enjoy them for breakfast topped with blackberries from the garden, mangoes and bio-dynamic yogurt. Sitting out on the veranda taking in a beautiful view of the Australian bush, we linger over these tender, fragrant waffles and a coffee (or two) late into the morning. (more…)

Sweet corn, basil and tomatoes are some of my favorite summer ingredients and on a recent trip home from the market I was trying to decide how I could combine them all for dinner. Actually, I was still figuring it out as I sautéed some summer squash, that had to be used and shucked the corn I had just carried home….there were many possibilities: tossed with pasta, in a salad or as a tart filling?
